Different types of tint for your colour contacts

So i thought i would do a post today about the different types of colour contacts that are available and what type of effect they are actually going to have on your eyes. Its strange to think that there are actually so many different types of contacts all working in a different way.

  • Visibility tint. Have you ever lost a contact lens? Well then this could be the solution you have been waiting for. This is a very lightly coloured lens and the idea is just to make it more visible so that if you drop it you can find it more easily. However since the colour is really light it should not affect your natural eye colour.

  • Enhancement tint. This type of tint is stronger than the Visibility tint but it is still transparent to a point. The main purpose of this lens is to add to your natural colour, it is not meant to change the colour of your eyes. This type of lens is best for people with light coloured eyes as they may want to make their eyes stand out more. However if you have darker eyes then this type of lens will not do much for you as it is not strong enough to change your eye colour.

  • Color tints. These are the “big boys” of the contact lens world as they can actually change your eye colour. These lenses are usually used by people with dark eyes as they are the only ones that can change your colour as mentioned in point 2. There are a variety of colours but they are usually the standard ones that you get in the natural eye spectrum. The main thing to note about these contacts is they are supposed to look as natural as possible so don’t expect any pinks! Indeed many will have small lines and dots on the surface to help make the lens look as close to the real eye as possible.

  • Constume and comedy lenses. These lenses are supposed to look anything but natural on the people who ware them. With these you can get almost any colour you can imagine and you can also get shapes and even patterns too, everything from patterns to water droplets can be found if you look hard enough. Most people don’t have any problems with these lenses but occasionally they can distort vision when you blink as the coloured portion covers the pupil temporarily. However since most people don’t wear these lenses for extended periods of time its not usually a problem.

As you can see theres alot more to colour contacts than you may have thought at the start. However since most of you will only be looking for one type of contact theres not too much to worry about when choosing. Also consider that since the price of contacts has come down so much lately it wont be hard to get another pair that do fit what you are looking for.
